The Sellfy alternative with no sales cap

Sellfy's 0% transaction fee is real, but it comes with a ceiling: every plan limits how much you are allowed to sell in a year. SoloStore has no ceiling, and no monthly bill to raise.

Sellfy vs SoloStore, in one paragraph

Short answer: below your plan's cap, Sellfy's 0% really is 0% — both sides pay Stripe the same 2.9% + 30¢, so fees are not the argument here. Two other things are. Sellfy prices you on how much you sell — $10k a year on Starter, $50k on Business, $200k on Premium — and past the cap you either move up a plan or pay a 2% overage. And it has no course player and no community: it delivers files. SoloStore is $497 once with no cap and both built in — you are ahead of Business in about ten months, and over five years it is $917 against $3,540.

The reason you are here

Why creators look for a Sellfy alternative

Your bill rises when you do well

Every plan caps annual sales — $10k, then $50k, then $200k. A good year is what pushes you into the next price.

Past the cap there is a percentage

Cross the limit and Sellfy expects you to upgrade. If you do not, it may charge a 2% overage fee on the revenue above it — so the 0% has a ceiling written into it.

It sells files, not courses

No course player, no lessons or modules, no progress tracking, no member community. Sellfy hands over a download or a video stream, which is a different job from teaching.

Sellfy figures are public list prices from sellfy.com/pricing, checked 15 August 2026. SoloStore's total is the one-time licence plus about $7 a month of self-hosting (Railway and Bunny, paid direct). Stripe's processing fee applies on both sides and is excluded.

The other side

What Sellfy does better than SoloStore

A comparison page that only flatters itself is an advert. Here is where Sellfy wins.

Sellfy is genuinely better at these

  • Print on demand and physical goods. Sellfy prints and ships t-shirts, hoodies and mugs for you, and sells tangible products beside the digital ones. SoloStore does neither.
  • Email marketing is built in. Between 2,000 and 50,000 email credits a month depending on plan, plus cart-abandonment emails. SoloStore tags buyers in Kit or MailerLite and leaves the sending to your email tool.
  • Its affiliate program is older. Business and Premium let you recruit affiliates and pay a commission per sale, and it has been doing it for years. SoloStore has one built in too, but it is new and still marked beta.
  • You can try it free. Fourteen days, no card. SoloStore asks for $497 up front and backs it with a seven-day refund instead.
  • It is cheaper to start. Starter is $29 a month against $497 once — and if you sell under $10,000 a year, the cap that this page is largely about will never once bother you.

Stay on Sellfy if merch and print on demand are part of the business, if you sell physical products, or if you are comfortably under the $10k Starter cap and happy there. This page is for the creator selling courses and memberships who has noticed that the bill goes up as the business does.

The catch

You host it yourself. That is the whole trade.

Two services, no markup, nothing paid to us — and a five-minute setup with no code and no terminal.

RailwayHosting your SoloStore $5.00
BunnyHosts your videos & downloads for pennies $2–3
Your whole monthly bill ≈ $7

Sellfy alternative FAQ

The questions people actually ask

How much does Sellfy cost?
Starter is $29 a month billed yearly or $39 month to month, Business is $59 or $79, and Premium is $119 or $159. Each plan also caps how much you may sell in a year — $10,000, $50,000 and $200,000 respectively. Figures read off sellfy.com/pricing on 15 August 2026.
Does Sellfy take a cut of my sales?
Not below your plan's cap — the published transaction fee is 0% on every plan, and what comes off a sale is Stripe's or PayPal's 2.9% + 30¢, which SoloStore's buyers pay too. Above the cap it changes: Sellfy expects you to upgrade, and says it may charge a 2% overage fee on the revenue past the limit if you do not.
What happens if I sell more than my Sellfy plan allows?
Sellfy notifies you as you approach the limit and expects you to move up a plan. If the account has not upgraded, it may start charging a 2% overage fee on the amount of revenue above the cap. SoloStore has no cap at all — one licence is one store with unlimited products, unlimited members and unlimited sales.
Can Sellfy host an online course?
Not as a course. Sellfy sells digital downloads, video streaming, subscriptions, physical products and print-on-demand merch, so you can deliver course videos as files or a stream — but there is no course player, no lessons and modules, no progress tracking and no member community. SoloStore includes all four in the one licence.
Is SoloStore cheaper than Sellfy?
Not on day one. Sellfy Business is $59 a month, while SoloStore is $497 once plus roughly $84 a year in hosting — so it costs more up front and less every year after. The table above runs both out to year five and shows where the lines cross.
Do I keep my own Stripe account?
Yes, and so does Sellfy — both pay out to your own Stripe or PayPal rather than holding your money. SoloStore runs on your Stripe keys and our cut of every sale is $0.00. If you would rather not deal with EU VAT and sales tax, Stripe's own merchant-of-record service is a switch you can turn on for an extra 3.5% a transaction.
Do I need to be technical to self-host it?
No. Setup is clicking through a Railway template — no code, no terminal, nothing to configure. There is a video of the whole thing on the homepage and a written guide in the box.
